Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: dosfstools
Version: 2.9-1
dosfsck doesn't seem to like filenames with spaces in them that were
created
by a pre-win95 program (i.e. win 3.1 or dos programs).
Example run:
iris:~# fsck -t vfat /dev/hdb1
fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
dosfsck 2.8, 28 Feb 2001, FAT32, LFN
/Documents/Kitty/FAX FLAP.DOC
Bad file name.
1) Drop file
2) Rename file
3) Auto-rename
4) Keep it
? 4
/Documents/Kitty/FAX FLAP.MCW
Bad file name.
1) Drop file
2) Rename file
3) Auto-rename
4) Keep it
? 4
/WINWORD/TREAD 2.DOC
Bad file name.
1) Drop file
2) Rename file
3) Auto-rename
4) Keep it
? 4
/dev/hdb1: 6897 files, 40846/49069 clusters
iris:~#
If I choose to rename it and remove the space, OR if I do auto-rename, it
goes along fine then prints
"leaving file system unchanged" and doesn't do anything.
I renamed the files manually and now it runs fine.
This disk was previously installed in a Win95 machine running a pre-win95
version of word.
