Version: N/A; reported 2003-01-29
Severity: normal
I intend to orphan the gtick package.
The package description is:
gtick is a small metronome app that uses the GTK widgets. It outputs to
/dev/dsp and features a scale from 30 beats per minute to 250 BPM and 2/4,
3/4, and 4/4 time.
Upstream is dead, the package contains some bugs, which makes it not
very useful, there are other packages (i.e. freebirth) which do the
task Metronome better.
I just uploaded the package with Maintainer QA.
I suggest to remove the package from the distribution if no one takes
it over in the next few weeks.

I don't know, I'm kind of fond of it, and I hadn't seen freebirth was in
stable yet. Not only that, but freebirth might be a bit overpowered if
all you want is a metronome.
I've been meaning to Debianize some of my other favorite packages (that
aren't already in the distro) for a while now, I've just been lazy. So,
how do I go about becoming a new maintainer? I'm assuming I should
start with the "Debian Maintainers Guide", but I'd like to get the ball
rolling before gtick disappears. I suppose if it isn't being maintained
upstream, I should probably grab the last snapshot of it and look into
maintaining it as well.

The new package is located at http://www.antcom.de/debian/ until my
sponsor uploads it into the archive. (I'm still waiting for DAM approval
in the NM process.)
