Good catch. The nslookup.1 man page was copied from the bind package, which
is derived from BIND 8.X, into the bind9 source package from which dnsutils
is created these days... since no man page is provided in the bind9 tree for
the version of nslookup now delivered. I'll have a look at it before the
next upload.

I'm just wondering why bind9 is shipping a halfbaked nslookup at all? Why
not either completely drop it or else ship a fully functional one?
I do like nslookup much more than dig ;-)

Speaking of which, nslookup (the old one) used to list, for each
query, the set of aliases (ie. CNAMEs with the same referent). I
can't see how to do the same thing with dig. Other than that I find
dig OK (once I figured out that "dig -f /dev/stdin" can be used like
nslookup's interactive mode).

Actually, nslookup would return all of the aliases listed in /etc/hosts,
if that's where it got the answer from... There isn't any way to say
'show me all of the CNAMES pointing to this name.'

The following commands seem not to be implemented and thus should removed
from the manpage (I would prefer to get the functionality back in, I'm
just too used to 'nslookup'):
> finger a
The 'finger' command is not implemented.
> ls a
The 'ls' command is not implemented.
> view a
The 'view' command is not implemented.
> help
The 'help' command is not yet implemented.
> ?
The '?' command is not yet implemented.
I'm pretty curious as to why even the 'help/?' command was left
out. IMHO this should be included back in again.

Javi
PS: Why not take bind8's nslookup and put it again in bind9?
