Package: aide
Version: 0.8-2

Hello

Everytime I execute "aide --init" on sparc64 aide is killed by a SIGBUS. It
seams this happens the first time, it tries to write real data to aide.db.new.

Here are the last lines of "aide --init --verbose=255":
| Checking /var/lib/xdm for match
| File /var/lib/xdm does not match
| db_init 0
| Opening file "/var/lib/aide/aide.db.new" for w+
| db_out is nonnull /var/lib/aide/aide.db.new
| Caught SIGBUS/SIGSEGV
| Caught SIGBUS/SEGV. Exiting
| Aborted

aide.db.new remains as a 10 Bytes large file.

And here is the backtrace:
| #0 0x0003a77c in md_enable ()
| #1 0x0003a7f8 in gcry_md_enable ()
| #2 0x0001e524 in do_md (file_lst=0xfd6f8, conf=0xfa098) at do_md.c:142
| #3 0x00024124 in main (argc=2, argv=0xeffffd64) at aide.c:406

Maybe a problem with libmhash2?

The BUS error signal also happens with sparc32 with the same symptoms as
reported by Daniel Bayer <daniel.bayer@stud.uni-rostock.de>

Let me know what debugging can be done to expedite the closure of this bug as
it's very important that aide works on my old SparcStation4.

There is a new release waiting in the wings, pending a bugfix on another
package; getting this release uploaded is probably the most important
step here.

Is this still reproducible with the newer aide from unstable or
experimental? If you install aide anew to test, please test with aide
from experimental.

If no answer is received, I intend to close this bug on 2006-03-31.

Hi,

this is Debian bug #152203. You were able to do checks on sparc64 back
in 2008. The underlying bug in libmhash was fixed in the mean time. Are
you still in the situation to try things on sparc 64?

If so, it would be great if you would be able and willing to verify that
aide works now even with the whirlpool hash on sparc 64.

If you're not able to check, I'd like to close this bug with the end of
2017.

Greetings
Marc
