IMO this bug should be upgraded from wishlist to a higher priority.

Without pspell support in php4 important functionality in other
applications - such as egroupware-email - isn't available. egroupware
is an example of an excellent suite of applications that most likely
would not be deployed in a production environment without simple spell
checking available in the email composer. The availability of a
php4-pspell package would rectify this situation promptly.

Please reconsider the status of this bug and the provision of a
php4-pspell package.

Thank you.

build problems on some arch, bugs in extension, special order from green
guys.

You have three bugs asking to enable spell checking module with no
feedback from package maintainers. If developers want to implement spell
checking in php scripts, they are forced to use various hacks and command
line utils incompatible with php safe mode.

Any logical explanation for 3 years and 102 days old wish?

No, there was feedback from me:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=156733;msg=17

Are you willing to solve bugs in and maintains pspell extension?
Prepare separate package and ask us for sponsorship.

Any interested DD can do that. Any interested user can do that with DD
sponsorship.

I am only DU and don't have knowledge required to maintain C based program.

What kind of bugs are present in php pspell extension? Is it broken on
some architecture?

Maintaining PHP packages is much worse then maintaining C based
programs.

I don't know if it's broken and personally I don't want to know.

Apparently nobody from php team wants to maintain this extension.
I filled RFH wnpp bug, maybe there is brave soul somewhere in Debian
universe.

Given how many times it's been requested, I may well roll up a
php-pspell source package that's more or less just like the php-imap
package, but I can't say I have any overwhelming urge to maintain it
longterm, and I certainly don't want to see it added to the PHP source
packages themselves (if anything, we should be removing extensions, not
adding them).
