This release should fix many of the bugs in the BTS. Amongst other
things, there is now repeater support for PS2, and I think raw is fixed
as well.

Is a lack of any good response to why GPM upstream doesn't seem to have
been touched an indicator that the maintainer is missing? I have looked
through all the merged bugs regarding the availability of a new
upstream, but I see no response to any of them from the maintainer or
anyone else.

Subject: test package 1.20.1 made but ...
Date: Fri, 22 Apr 2005 00:58:30 +0200
Hi gpm lovers,

I was successful compiling 1.20.1 into deb packages under sid with few
chenges. (Please not I am not claiming successful packaging)

  * Downloaded gpm-1.20.1-dt8.src.rpm from Dmitry Torokhov's
    http://www.geocities.com/dt_or/gpm/gpm.html page.
    tar file and patches were extracted and imported.
  * Imported 014_has_mouse_control.patch from old debian package as
    gpm-1.20.1-108-mouse_control.patch .
  * Remove duplicate type definition as gpm-1.20.1-109-redef.patch .
  * Ajust debian/rules to new source subdirectories etc.

 -- Osamu Aoki <osamu@debian.org>  Thu, 21 Apr 2005 21:53:30 +0200

Please note I did not tryed to merge autops2 thing which is Debian patch
not merged by the upstream nor Dmitry Torokhov. I just confirmed no
device like autops2 in this.

I post this here so people understand why Debian is stuck with old 1.19.6
version. Basically debian package is a folk which has autodetect
function.

I will keep my package at
  http://people.debian.org/~osamu/package

After this I lost interest. But this may still be a good reference if
some one seriously think merging these non-debian 1.20.1 and debin gpm.

Why I did this? Because I have synaptic on my system. So far synps2
of 1.20.1 package did not work for me.

Osamu

Thanks, I'll take a look at your work. We're basically waiting on the
sarge release to switch to 1.20.x. This might or might not have been a
good idea in hindsight, given the length of the sarge release.

We already have an initial attempt to package 1.20.x, it was done by
Joshua Kwan and it's in the svn repo:

	<svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-gpm/branches/experimental/>

I'm not sure of its state though, we'll have to recheck and remerge
most of our latest changes.

guillem

Hello,

  I see that Debian is still at gpm-1.19.6, although there seems to have
  been packaging attempts about 3 years ago. So, what's up ? I have been
  doing some packages for Debian lately. So if guys are busy I would try
  to do the work, but I think I will need someone to supervise me for
  such a package.

   [ Peter Samuelson ]
   * New upstream version. (Closes: #191928, #147462, #160007, #225007)
     A big thanks to Joshua Kwan for rediffing all the patches:
     - Remove patches obsoleted by new release:
       001_logging_000: superseded upstream
       003_wheel_000, 012_dec_vs_xxx_aa_000: applied upstream
     - Combine 010_ps2_rework_* patches into one, 010_ps2_rework
   * Switch to quilt patch system. Remove numeric prefixes/suffixes from
     patch names, as ordering in quilt is already explicit.
 .
   [ Guillem Jover ]
   * Backport rediffed patches by Joshua Kwan from experimental branch:
     - debian/patches/002_force_repeat_000: Sync.

     - Remove targets binary-gpm, binary-libgpmg1, binary-libgpmg1-dev,
       binary-gpm-real, binary-libgpmg1-real and binary-libgpmg1-dev-real.
     - Make binary-arch depend only on build.
   * Use --print-architecture, instead of --print-installation-architecture
     for dpkg in gpm.config.
