Status of the GNU/FreeBSD has much changed since Nathan sent this request.
After Bruno Haible ported Glibc to the FreeBSD kernel, Nathan and I (Nathan
untill he got MIA, then i took the relay) restarted the porting efforts to
use GNU libc instead of the FreeBSD libc.
As of now i'm the only developer working on the GNU/FreeBSD port, and have
had good results with it lately. However, there are still problems with Glibc,
and Nathan has his doubts on wether it's viable to use it for the port.
So my suggestion is that you put this on hold untill we have a clear idea
on what the port will be based on and, more importantly, we get consensus on
that decision.
Thanks,

Hi,
Closing this bug as we talked with James. This old port is now dead,
and is being replaced by GNU/kFreeBSD (kfreebsd-i386), once the archive
split is implemented we'll file a new bug report requesting its
addition.
regards,
guillem
