Package: locales
Version: 2.2.4-1
Severity: wishlist
File: /etc/locale.alias
Subject says it all. Please add:
english en_US.ISO-8859-1
to the aliases.
(in case you are wondering, gdm sets LANG to "English", and some
programs turn into a PITA about it. Yep, "unset LANG" in my .bashrc
does the trick, but I don't see why adding this alias could be a
problem, modulo flamewars about "english" being en_US instead of en_UK
or viceversa, but if that's indeed a problem, I could then raise a
complain about "spanish" being aliased to "es_ES")
Thank you in advance,

Find a consensus on whether english should be en_US or en_UK and I'll do
it. As I fail to think you will find this consensus, I'm closing this
bug.

*blink*
I actually made a mistake on the bug report, I think. Could "english"
be aliased to "en" (or "en@ISO-8859-1")?
PS: While I have your attention... did you get my mails about the LDAP
interface to the BTS? From what I can see the indexes are not being
regenerated and the problem is that your script uses find on a symlink,
which it won't follow. I can't log into master right now to check.

There is no such locale listed in SUPPORTED. So, no go :)

Yes, I got those emails. It is a little more complex. The db/ directory
is now hashed into subdirectories. I need to account for this, since the
file layout was part of the usage.

I was just forwarded information about a destructive, trojan-type virus called "TROJ_JESTRO.A" which affects all Windows PCs. It isn't a hoax, as confirmed here by Trend Micro:
http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ_JESTRO.A
("This Backdoor program creates two Trojan files, TROJ_BIONET318.A and TROJ_HUKKEY.A. It also shares an infected systems local drives, C:\ to Z:\, which it hides with a dollar sign.")
