Subject: scsi.agent should perhaps modprobe sg for cdroms
Date: Thu, 23 Sep 2004 00:47:41 +0100
Package: hotplug
Version: 0.0.20040329-15

I was trying to use cdrecord, but could not do because of messages like
this:

abbeyhill:/home/dcs# cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=0,0,0
~dcs/Desktop/Downloads/KNOPPIX_V3.6-2004-08-16-EN.iso
...
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg0'. Cannot open
SCSI driver.

I could fix this problem by "modprobe sg". (Makes sense in the light of
http://www.torque.net/sg/)

It would be nice if this could happen automatically. It looks like
/etc/hotplug/scsi.agent inserts sr_mod when a cdrom is plugged in.
Perhaps it should insert sg too? (I'm not an expert in this area.)
For the moment, I'll put it in /etc/modules.

It doubt it's relevant, but I'm using udev.

David.
