It's a documented behavior. grid(3tk) manpage states that [grid size]
looks either
at the slave occupying the largest row or column, or the largest row or column
with nonzero minsize, weight or pad.
So, I wouldn't call this a bug. I think I'll close this bugreport as invalid.
