Subject: [kde-window-manager] non-qt apps don't get keyboard focus after desktop switch
Date: Sat, 3 Mar 2012 23:50:25 +0100
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.6.5-4
Severity: normal
--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
After switching desktops via next/previous desktop or switch one desktop
down/left/right/up operations the window that becomes active doesn't get
keyboard focus.
It seems to happen only to gtk applications, but not all of them (iceweasel is
fine), and not always (terminator is sometimes fine but mostly not). It is
usually ok if the active window on the previous desktop was a qt/kde one. The
keyboard focus is grabbed after changing windows (I use focus follows mouse),
or changing subwindows in terminator (it also has focus following mouse).
I have no idea whether this is kde-window-manager's fault or gtk's, but
considering that both gtk2 and gtk3 apps misbehave I think the common
component is k-w-m, but I might be wrong.
Bug #661790 might be related. It gets keyboard input back after I swing the
mouse pointer to an other window and back to wxmaxima. This doesn't happen
with fluxbox window manager.
