Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.3+2 Severity: normal I just did a fresh install to a new hard-drive, everything up-to-date to the latest "testing". Now when I hit Ctl-Alt-F1, instead of getting a console, the keyboard and mouse are locked up. This happens at both the gdm login prompt and while logged into KDE. If I login through the network and kill X, function is restored. I'm using the experimental xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd package (0.0.1+git20071006) on top of unstable and I can switch from the X virtual terminal to the console virtual terminals and back again, but the console virtual terminals don't send any video signal at all---my monitor's status LED goes amber. I'm wondering whether I need to report this as an actual bug, or whether the next xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd package build will pick up a fix automatically. Thanks, Derek

Exactly the same is happening to me with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.2.0-1 from unstable. There is no video after switching to a virtual console but typing blind I can login etc, and switch back to X with alt-F7 etc Mark Niven

The error cropped up after this package (and other X-related packages) got to Lenny on May 5. Mucking with vga mode settings in grub haven't helped. I've also found that using the vesa driver instead of radeon don't help either, so I assume something is screwy with X rather than the driver. The autodetect below isn't quite right. My card is an ATI 9600XT, not a Mobility (although they may have the same core). Thanks, Nathan A.
