Package: netbase
Version: 3.11-1.2
Hi,
You can list byte/packet counters for each ipchains rule with a command like
the following:
ipchains -L -n -v
And you can clear all the byte counters like this:
ipchains -Z
But, to avoid race conditions (what if more packets are received in between
listing and clearing the counters?) the following command is supposed to
work:
ipchains -Z -L -n -v
ipchains doesn't complain when this command is given, but it doesn't zero
the counters either. I tried ipchains 1.3.8 (netbase includes 1.3.4) and
the problem is solved in that version.
You might want to upgrade netbase to the new ipchains, so people don't get
confused.
Have fun,
Avery

Kernel 2.2.x isn't supported by slink at the moment, so these upgrades have
only been done for potato.
When slink gets updated for kernel 2.2, I'll backport net-tools and ipchains
to slink, but until that time, you need to get packages from potato to have
kernel 2.2 work properly, so...
I'm thus considering this `not a bug'. If you'd rather have this open
until slink gets updated, feel free to reopen it, and I'll leave it
'til then.
Cheers,
aj

Then probably it should contain no ipchains package at all, since ipchains
is only useful for 2.2 kernels.

My preference would be to leave this one open so that we don't
forget to upgrade ipchains when the time comes. It's still a bug in
ipchains, and since ipchains only works on 2.2 kernels...
Actually, there is an ipchains-patch for 2.0.x kernels, but this version of
the ipchains program probably doesn't work right with that either.
Have fun,
Avery
