Hi,

the panel should dvoid resizing the layout in size_allocate event
handler. Otherweise, the gtk_widget_queue_resize() call would be
swallowed and the panel would not actually give more size to the widget.
The applet would only become visible after some timer-based event
changes the widget completely, e.g. plugging in the cable.

See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201305 for a proposed
patch, in case you want to fix this before it is included in a new
upstream release.

Joachim

its been half a year now and I am tired of having to patch the package
locally, so I guess this counts as upstream being to slow. Thanks for
offering to keep the patch in the Debian package!

Joachim

going through the applet-related patches that I had to create, there is
two more:

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663950
Patch: http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201305

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663968
Patch: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201316

And rather important, as it affects libapplet and hence possibly every
applet:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=654843
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201328

Let me know if you prefer individual bugs reports for these or if you
wish to apply them in one go.

Thanks,
Joachim

Hi again,

may I bug you again and ask if you can apply these patches which seem
to be not cared for by upstream any more, preferably before the release
of wheezy:

battstat applet not shown until major state change:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663950
http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201305

pixbuf_draw_line broken, battery state not visualized
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=664301
http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201620

Multiload applet flickers on redraw:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663968
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=201316
