I installed sarge, gdm was started automatically and told me the time
was:
    Wed Nov 16,  8:05
When I logged in, the clock-applet in the gnome-panel said:
    Wed 16 Nov, 20:05
(or the other way around, I cannot remember).

I just upgraded to GNOME 1.12 in experimental to see whether this is still
there.  While the situation has slightly improved (the time format is the same
now), the date is still displayed in a different way:

gdm:          Fri Nov 25,  6:55 PM
clock-applet: Fri 25 Nov,  6:55 PM
                  ^^^^^^

It would be nice if this was consistent.


Tested with:

ii  gnome-panel         2.12.1-2            launcher and docking facility for GNOME 2
ii  gdm                 2.8.0.6-1           GNOME Display Manager

gnome-panel seems to use the locales date and time, but this has no
effect on gdm

gdm was last released with Debian 6.0 (squeeze) in
February 2011 and removed from Debian sid/unstable in 2011 (see
http://bugs.debian.org/613491 for details on the removal). Since
support for squeeze and squeeze-LTS has now ended, I'm closing all the
remaining bugs reported against this package.
