Another problem with the current situation is that when media is mounted. The created desktop
icon is put in the upper left corner. This area of the screen dose not exist(Physically) as the
left screen is smaller and centered vertically with the right. I.E.
	Screen 1 "Screen1" 0 195 # Don't align to top.

So just adding code to make the initial location physical, exist, would be a big improvement.

If you look at the attached file you will see the upper and lower left side
of the screen is black, this is where there is no physical screen. The
bottom of the "Start Here" icon can be seen but the "Home" icon is
completely off the screen.

How do I fix this?

Subject: nautilus: Same thing happens when playing with dual-screen layout.
Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2005 11:31:26 +0100
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.8.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #206038

Hello,

I played with my dual screen setup, and stacked the screens vertically to try
to workaround the radeon mergedfb 2048 resolution limit (2x1280x1024). I
reverted this as it didn't work.

Saddly, the icons ended up being in the bottom screen of the vertical layout,
and thus when reverting to horizontal dual-screen, they simply dissapeared,
probably being drawn at screen coordinates below the showed screen.

There seem to be no way to get these back in place at all, so i think this
issue may be not minor but probably normal at least. It is similar to a
gnome-panel issue in bug : #289114 and #289117, maybe duplicated in
corresponding gnome-panel bugs.

A quick fix here would be to have code that checks when displaying icons if
they are out of the visible area, and then redisplay them in their
default position. I am not sure if something more subtle can be done or not.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Hey,

this is an old bug.

Could you please still reproduce this issue with newer nautilus version
like 3.4.2-1+build1 or 3.12.2-1 ?

just question this because upstream has open bugs yet.

thanks
regards
althaser
